“…You know more than any doctor, more than any parent or anyone at all. You know what your mind is, what it can do, what you can do.
So there is no authority that is going to tell you anything than you don’t know already about your mind.
But you can tell other people so much... Because you are the only one who has the inside scoop on that.
And so if you can really trust, like if you can develop a trust in yourself, know what you are capable of… and that is a very positive feedback loop that will help you in your life. A lot of people don’t have that trust in themselves and they have to look to other people for a lot of their opinions….” camurflage
Brilliant!!! Susie Mallett’s latest posting deserves admiration, praise and acknowledgement. If you want to understand what Conductive Education is about don’t miss it. Read It!
This is our week off at Conductive Education Support Services, before our four-week Summer Course. We work through most of the year to support the real needs of all in the here and now. This is not an easy task, but it is very rewarding.
I just wanted to put up this post to encourage you in your own endeavours whatever they might be and to tell you that I had one of the most inspirational meetings today, despite that I am on holiday. I truly believe that you draw the right kind of people towards you once you clarify your level of values. Help can come from inconceivable angles in the most joyful and creative ways when you believe, trust and have faith in yourself. HOW? Do things Honestly, Openly and Willingly. Love Judit
'HOME is an ode to the planet's beauty and its delicate harmony. Through the landscapes of 54 countries captured from above, YANN ARTHUS-BERTRAND takes us on an unique journey all around the planet, to contemplate it and to understand it. But HOME is more than a documentary with a message, it is a magnificent movie in its own right. Every breathtaking shot shows the Earth - our Earth - as we have never seen it before. Every image shows the Earth's treasures we are destroying and all the wonders we can still preserve. "From the sky, there's less need for explanations". Our vision becomes more immediate, intuitive and emotional. HOME has an impact on anyone who sees it. It awakens in us the awareness that is needed to change the way we see the world. (HOME embraces the major ecological issues that confront us and shows how everything on our planet is interconnected.)'
Watch out for the Budapest Symphony Orchestra.
You might find that the Hungarian Anthem fits in very well to the subject of the film….embracing humanity as a whole on Planet Earth which is our home.... our home which provides us with oxigen to breath and nourishes us with food to keep us alive.
My grandmother wanted me to put this clip onto this posting too… so be it. She often sang this song from Ferenc Erkel's Bank Ban when I was a little girl… She had to go through two world wars and more... Itt van Nagyi ahogy kerted. x Ps: My grandmother was sent to a proper girl’s school for young women to be trained and to be taught how to become excellent, educated woman and how to run the household in a patriotic society.
It all began with one, age-old question: What would you say if you knew you were going to die and had a chance to sum up everything that was most important to you? The lecture was so uplifting, so funny, so inspirational that it went viral. So far, 10 million people have downloaded it. And thousands have written in to say that his lecture changed their lives. If you had only six months to live, what would you do? How would you live your life? And how can all of us take heart from Pausch's inspiring message to live each day to its fullest?
“But we don’t beat the Reaper by living longer. We beat the Reaper by living well,” said Dr. Pausch, who urged the graduates to find and pursue their passion. He put an exclamation point at the end of his remarks by kissing his wife, Jai, and carrying her off stage.
…It is here where the limitation of time and space is dissolved; the soul rests and is refreshed, protected from the chaos outside the ‘garden walls’.
Life reassumes its primordial goodness, truth, and beauty.
It is when one’s original nature or 'unconditioned Being' can be encountered in wellness and safety. It is a place where usually you can do no wrong; it’s all for the good! It is where one is bonding with like souls whose influence strengthens all and fulfils their needs. It is where events draw one into a magical and charmed circle. Where one’s natural charisma attracts souls who harmonize with one, as if they are part of one’s family. When such alliances emerge, one feels strengthened and affirmed. One evolves beyond survival issues and is better able to choose the best circumstances and companions.
One finds a comfortable team in which everyone can do their best work, display their talents, express their true feelings and receive positive feedback…
Last week I had a visit from an old colleague and friend who is a physiotherapist. We have known each other and worked together for 16 years. She first contacted me in 1993 to attend one of my training courses.
At that time she told me about her sheer frustration with her everyday physiotherapy practice. She was looking for more inspiration, more structure, more consistency; a more rounded and integrated approach to her future work. She wanted to bring more success into her everyday work. She talked to me about the inconsistency in sharing information amongst all the professionals who were in charge of individuals with neurological conditions.
She told me how lost, alone and abandoned these ‘patients’ felt and how inconsistent were the provisions they received from medical and care services.
Since then she left the NHS and set up her own vision of integrated, community based services in London.
She came to see me with one of her lovely 'clients' who had a stroke to find out what more they could work on together.
We had a fantastic problem solving time together; we had so much laughter and yes we also had some tears... of joy too as we progressed with all the issues we had to address.
Here are some photos I would like to share with you from the session.
The film is about a young man who went to war and lost his ‘authentic swing’ his soul.
...'Now play the game. one that only you was meant to play. The one given to you when you was born.' ...
‘You gonna be wanting a different club, Junuh? I can't do this. Just loose your grip up a smidge. - A man's grip is like a... - That's not what I'm talking about. - I know. - No, you don't. What I'm talking about is a game... ...a game that can't be won... ...only played. - You don't understand. I don't need to understand. Ain't a soul who ain't got a burden to carry he don't understand. You ain't alone in that. But you've been carrying this one long enough. Time to go on, lay it down. I don't know how. You got a choice. You can stop... ...or you could start. - Start? - Walking. - Where? Back to where you've been and then stand there. Still. Real still, and remember. - It was too long ago. - No, sir, it was just a moment ago. Time to come on out the shadows, Junuh. Time for you to choose. - I can't. - You can. You ain't alone. I'm right here with you. I've been here all along. Now play the game. one that only you was meant to play. The one given to you when you was born. You ready? Come on, take your stance. Strike that ball, Junuh. Don't hold nothing back. Now's the time. Let yourself remember. Remember your swing. That's right, Junuh. Settle yourself, that's good. Now is the time, Junuh. Let's go, Hardy. Hey, Bagger. - You are one hell of a caddy. - I do the best with what I got.’
From the script of Legend of Beggar Vance - The Woods scene.
War of course, could be used symbolically and substituted with any internal and external battle one may encounter in life, which could lead to loosing one’s ‘authentic swing’.
'The English cellist Jacqueline du Pre was one of the most stunningly gifted musicians of our time. Tall, blonde and ebullient, du Pre would wrap herself around her cello and play with an intimacy and intensity that transported her audiences. She was a musical lioness, ferocious and playful, uninhibited and passionate.'
'Jacqueline du Pré is arguably the greatest talent to ever play the cello. She combined mind, heart, body and soul to produce the most expressive tones ever to emanate from the instrument. Shy and at the same time bold, she was not only expressive, but played with precision, fullness and purity of tone. She could not pinpoint the time when she started losing feeling in her fingers, and her arms, as she said, felt like lead. By the fall of 1973 she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. She continued to teach on occasion, but the deterioration of her health gained momentum and finally, on October 19, 1987, she died at the age of forty-two.'
Sorry for the poor quality ending of the clip, but it was the only suitable I could find.
I filed this posting under inspirational segment. You might wonder what is inspirational about it? Well, the inspiration could be found from several different angles. You find the one, which sounds true to you.
One of the angles could be that MS could affect almost anyone…
All individuals I worked with whose lives were affected by MS were talented and inspirational human beings in some way or another. Some managed to stand out from the crowd before diagnosis and some had talents and inspirations that are still to be recognised by themselves and by the people around them.
When we work with individuals using Petö’s exemplary ideas, concepts and practice we must remember his teaching, which clearly defines that we must have the highest respect for everyone we work with whether they are babies or grownups. Regardless of creed, age, colour, talent, social background, diagnosis or any identified criteria previously given and imposed upon them.
A poem which was recited by Paul H. one of our participants in the Multiple Sclerosis Group.
There is a young boy within us which we would exclude from the pitiless surfaces of the mirrors which life would hold up to us
'Grow up' which is what time would say to us. The brow furrows, the mouth sets, the eyes which were made for the reflection of first love have a hole in the centre through which we may look down into the abyss of meaning,
and yet there is the crying within of the young boy who has fallen and will not pick himself up knowing there is nobody to run to.
"One person spending all of their time working for peace makes the news. Many people spending some of their time working for peace can make history" Peace Pilgrim
Peace Pilgrim talked about peace among nations, peace among groups, peace with our environment, peace among individuals and the very important inner peace. She believed in human potential, and that most people only scratch the surface of their potentials.
'It felt like the smell of freshly cut grass infused with a particular ray of sunshine that carried the light of simplicity, reassurance, calmness and clarity.
It felt like a clear sense of focus and determination merged with the gentle breeze of everyday life with its noises, textures and feelings.
Bringing this magical combination of peace (a kind of knowing), clarity and compassion into our distinctively perceivable three-dimensional world of time and space reality.
It felt like purpose with infinite bounds of possibilities and choices, combined with a sense of seriousness and awe-inspiring joyful responsibility'. J Szathmáry
'This book introduces readers to key concepts and issues in the evolving field of special education. Arguably, over the past thirty years, no other area of education has been as radically transformed as the provision of services to children with disabilities. Since the mid 1970s, special education has steadily grown to reach fully 12% of the U.S. student population in grades K-12, and millions of children from birth to age five. Despite its promise of equal access, special education has become a controversial field in many respects. Critics point to its high cost, questionable pedagogical effectiveness, and differential outcomes across localities, family income levels, and ethnicities. The more typical approach in the literature highlights the legal and procedural mandates that dominate the discourse on educating the disabled student, but fails to explore the underlying assumptions and inconsistencies that make this area of education a controversial and still unsettled enterprise. This handbook departs from the traditional books in this field by focusing on the ways that special education policies and practices are enacted, rather than highlighting only their intended outcomes. Contributors to this text focus on defining commonly used terms and professional jargon in order to give interested readers access and insight into the field of special education and its associated practices. Some of the subjects included in this volume are the history of special education, disability and society, law and special education, pedagogy, policies and practices, and research in special education.' The truth is that there are multiple levels of activity behind what appears to be a play of incredible magnitude. Would you be surprised to learn that you are writing the lines and until you can figure out a point to the script, there is none?
The search for answers to this question intrigues the mind. Cooperation is a natural phenomenon as long as the need to control is absent. The need to control is a learned activity that becomes habitual through the experience of it.
If you accept responsibility by making a personal commitment between you and the creative energy that focused you through thought into this existence you may enjoy taking yourself to the edge of extinction for the fun of the adventure…
Purity of response to this outweighs educational degrees. Those who know the least of what is going on will hear first. If you are serious in attempting to understand this then if you dare, look at the events that you have already experienced and you will see that this has been the case many times. Now you must decide whether to take back your power, remove the blindfold of your own volition or wait until it’s removed for you. Where do you stand at this pivotal point? You must ask yourself and you must answer yourself!
Pedagogy is the art and science of education. It carries a multidimensional meaning. It is a multilevel system of teaching people of different ages, with different abilities, gifts and needs, by finding their innate (sometimes latent) abilities and potential to learn, communicate and grow. It provides an environment, which creates endless opportunities on the physical, emotional, psychological, cognitive and spiritual spectrums... Pedagogy is also a scientific research process, a descriptive and exploratory science, and an applied science, a research experience gained in the process of education and training in application of knowledge and values derive from the students.

How did it feel like working at Petö at the beginning of the 1980's?
